Phyllis

I would like to start this post by first apologizing to all of you that frequently check for updates on Ellie. Its been a bit of a hectic schedule, so we've not been able to post pictures. We've taken fewer pictures as well, so finding good ones is harder.

I would like to also thank all those that have prayed, shown support and helped our little Ellie get better.

Phyllis is one of these people. She is quite possibly the best nurse in Primary Children's NICU and everyone knows it. There is no shortage of praise for this woman, we hear if from all the other nurses, but she takes it all in stride. She's worked at Primary's for 28 years and her experience is keeping my little Elizabeth alive. I am grateful.

(Phyllis brought in a disco ball for her to look at ;)

Phyllis made Teri very excited today telling her that she can bring in a little Easter outfit for Ellie and take pictures. (we'll be sure to get those up ;)

Ellie had a HIDA scan today. This is the test where they try to determine what is going on with her liver and gall bladder. She didn't pass the fluid very fast however, and they are going to have to do another scan tomorrow. She wont have to have any more hydroxy iminodiacetic acid (HIDA) however.

Her liver and gall bladder are the primary concern of late. She is still very jaundice, she has an unconjugated biliruben count of 8. The phenobarbital hasn't kicked in yet. And it seems her liver is not breaking down the digoxin as quickly as it should, so she cant be given any more doses. The cardiologist has suggested another medication, but we'll have more on that when its administered.

In other changes, they have started her on hydrocortizone to help her lungs, I haven't asked why just yet, but hydrocortizone is frequently used in preemies to help their lungs develop.

The good news on her heart is that its not getting any worse, her echo today showed numbers similar to those last week. Progress is usually very slow, so we are patient.

Thank you all for your patience (more pictures soon ;))

While you are waiting, you can remember the cute ones gone by.
