Not Crisco™

Ellie had a new echo today and performed beautifully. She has been doing so well that the doctors assumed that her heart would show an improvement and she didn't let them down.

Her shortening fraction is up from 9% to 12.5% (30% is normal) and her ejection fraction is up from 20% to 30%(55-65% is normal)!!!!

So we're still a little less than half of normal left heart function, but we'll take improvement where we can get it!

I spoke last night with the genetics team, evidently there was some concern that her lack of improvement was chromosomal. Based on today's results however, their suggestion is that it is probably NOT genetic.

In other news, her feedings are up to 9 cc's every three hours. I dont know if we've reported this very well, but she initially started at 1 cc and progressed up to 17 cc's. When she got to 17 she had trouble keeping it down and there was a concern of an infection so they started her over at 3 cc's and have been working up from there. They are also keeping her hyperal up in an effort to help her gain weight. She is currently 2470 grams.

Hooray! She'll be home and good to go in time for Bear Lake!

And I want to hold her instead of swim, K?

We are so glad to hear about Ellie's improvements. Our prayers are with you and all the NICU parents. Evie is doing well. Mommy, unfortunately is neurotic and freaks out over every move she makes. Hopefully you'll be at home soon too!

Your NICU friends,
Shane and Angie Sullivan
