Sick baby

Chad went to see Ellie again last night after work, and thought she was looking better. However, when I talked to Dr. Beachy at 11:30 before I went to bed, she said that Ellie was looking peaky. She also told me that she was concerned that if Ellie's heart gave out, she wouldn't have enough strength to come back from it. Not what the mother wants to hear, but she felt that I should know.

Ellie's arterial line fell out of her left heel last night, so they had to put a new one in her other foot. They use that to draw blood from so they don't have to continuously poke her. Her blood pressure on the right side isn't as strong as the left because the right is where they did her heart catheter through the femeral artery.

Dr. Beachy called me this morning at about 8:30 to tell me that Ellie's blood culture came back positive for infection. They actually started her on antibiotics last night just in case. They may have to put another piccline in for the antibiotics if she doesn't start improving in the next 24 hours. They are also doing another echocardiogram today to look for tiny blood clots that can get infected.

I'm trying not to panic that I got her sick. There is no proof that I did or didn't, but everyone at the hospital says I can't blame myself. I need to focus on getting better so I can get back down there and be with my baby. I can't stand it that I'm not there again today. Chad is going down again later today and will give our girl another blessing.
