Big Girl

Ellie ate from a bottle today! The physical therapist fed her about 20 cc's in 12 minutes. Ellie got tired on the last 5 cc's, so the PT didn't push her. She did so well, that she gets to eat from a bottle twice a day, 25 cc's a feeding. But only if she wants to. They don't want to wear her out and burn up too many calories (she needs them to grow). The other feedings she will still get through her feeding tube.

Endocronology came and looked at Ellie today and prescribed some steroids to help bring her TSH count up. Her thyroid hormone count is down (typical in heart babies) so the endocronologist wants to get a jump on treatment before it becomes a problem.

Ellie also got her eyes checked today. There are some eye diseases/problems common in heart babies, but she got a clean bill of health from the eye guy. Nothing showed up bad in her eyes. She just kicked a lot because she didn't like being messed with.

Our girl is getting bigger and stronger and spending more time awake. Still not a lot of time, but more than she was.


All I need now is a Teddy Bear to cuddle....
